Sukhoi Superjet-100
HAMPSHIRE (BNS): The Russian Sukhoi Aircraft Design Bureau will soon be finalising a contract with a South-East Asian air company for delivering 30 Sukhoi Superjet-100s at UK Farnborough Air Show (FIA) 2010.
According to a news report by RIA Novosti, the announcement was made in the company's press release.
Sukhoi Superjet-100 is a family of medium-haul passenger aircraft developed by Sukhoi and manufactured with the unprecedented international cooperation. It is a modern, fly-by-wire regional jet in the 75- to 95-seat category.
The aircraft will fly at the air show in Farnborough slated for July 19th.
"The upcoming airshow would reassure the global aviation community that the Russian airliners meet global requirements and will show potential buyers that the company has the potential to implement the project successfully," Mikhail Pogosyan, head of the Sukhoi and MiG Corporation, was quoted as saying in the report.
The company also expect to sign several other important documents during the airshow.
"We will also showcase Su-35 Flanker and MiG-35 Fulcrum-F multi-mission fighters, as well as the Su-32 fighter-bomber (an export version of the Su-34 Fullback aircraft in service in the Russian Air Force) and MiG-29 Fulcrum combat aircraft," said Sergei Meshcheryakov of Sukhoi Design Bureau.
The Farnborough International Airshow is a seven-day international trade fair for the aerospace business which is held biennially in Hampshire, England.
The airshow is an important event for the aerospace industry particularly for the announcement of new developments and orders.
