NEW DELHI (PTI): Looking forward to strengthen military ties with India, Sri Lankan Army Chief Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya will be here to review the Passing Out Parade (POP) at Indian Military Academy (IMA) in Dehradun on December 5.
During his visit, the Sri Lankan Army Chief will also go to the Army's establishments in Agra and the Buddhist shrines in Gaya in Bihar, Indian Army officials said Friday.
There have been very few occasions in the past where services heads from friendly countries have reviewed the POP at the IMA -- the cradle of Indian Army's leadership.
India shares a close military relation with Sri Lanka as several of its officers are trained at military institutions here.
Recently, India agreed to help the Sri Lankan Army in its capacity building by allowing more seats for its officers and men in its training academies and military colleges, apart from sharing experiences in counter-insurgency operations.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh Army Chief General Mohammed Abdul Mubeen will review the POP of 121st course of National Defence Academy (NDA) at Khadakwasla on November 29.
