MARIETTA, US (BNS): The Republic of Korea Air Force (ROKAF) has received two new C-130J Super Hercules military transport aircraft from Lockheed Martin.

The aircraft, delivered last week, were ferried from Lockheed's Marietta facility in Georgia on April 1 to be flown to South Korea by the ROKAF aircrews, which currently operate a fleet of C-130H legacy aircraft.

The ROKAF's new Super Hercules is the longer fuselage or "stretched" combat delivery variant. Lockheed Martin is also contracted to provide a two-year support programme to the ROKAF, including C-130J aircrew and maintenance training.

South Korea has placed an order for four C-130J Super Hercules planes.

With the latest delivery, it became the 14th country to fly the C-130J, Lockheed said.
