COIMBATORE (PTI): Models of BRAHMOS supersonic cruise missile system, Solar Viewing Telescope, Scale model of Sun-Earth system from NASA, and other missiles from DRDO and rockets from ISRO would be displayed for the benefit of students and researchers during the six-day 'Space Festival 2012,' beginning from July nine.
Live working models of space equipment from NASA, DRDO (Defence Research and Development Organisation) and ISRO (Indian Space Research Organisation) will be displayed during the first such event in South India, which would be a confluence of the best minds from these organisations, Dr C Swaminathan, Vice-Chancellor, Bharathiar University, told reporters.
The university is the coordinating institution of the event.
There will be nine visiting NASA scientists, giving lectures every day at the event, to be inaugurated by former President, Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, he said.
Dr. A. Sivathanu Pillai, CEO & MD, BrahMos Aerospace, Dr VK Saraswat, SA to RM, DG DRDO, Secretary Defence R&D and ISRO Chandrayan project director, Mylsamy Annadurai, would be present.
