SINGAPORE (BNS): The Singapore Armed Forces and United States (US) Marine Corps have begun a bilateral exercise code-named ‘Valiant Mark.’
Commander of 7th Singapore Infantry Brigade Senior Lieutenant-Colonel Clifford Keong and US Marine Corps Pacific Assistant Chief of Staff for Plans and Policy Colonel John Lowrey inaugurated the exercise.
About 500 personnel from the 1st Battalion, Singapore Guards are taking part in the exercise with 155 personnel from the 1st Battalion, 7th Marine Regiment, the Singapore MoD said on its website.
The exercise will include urban and area security operations scenarios, and culminate in a combined live-firing exercise on September 30.
These regular interactions between Singapore and the US have served to enhance the interoperability between the two militaries and foster mutual understanding between their personnel, it said.
