Eurofighter Typhoon plane
ROME (BNS): Selex Galileo, a subsidiary of Finmeccanica company has won a contract worth USD 334.83 million (EUR 242 million) to supply 88 Captor radar systems for the Eurofighter Typhoon fighters.
The Captor Mechanically Scanned (M-Scan) radar ordered for the Eurofighter Typhoon Tranche 3A programme are currently the primary sensor on the Eurofighter Typhoon.
Selex Galileo will manufacture the radars at its manufacturing centers in Italy, Germany,Spain and the United Kingdom.
The company has scheduled the deliveries of the radars in 2012.
The partners of the Eurofighter Typhoon programme are also planning to develop electronically scanned array radar as a successor to the Captor.
The contract follows on from the recently announced USD 151 million (EUR 110 million) support and service solutions to the number of programmes for Eurofighter Typhoon, Tornado, Grifo radar, simulators and Mirach target drones.
