PARIS (BNS): European defence and aerospace company Sagem of the Safran group has signed a Memorandum of Agreement with Israel’s Elbit Systems to set up a joint venture company that will market tactical unmanned aircraft systems in France and other international markets.
The JV company, with equal shares by both the companies, will be established by 2011 at Eragny and Montluçon, France.
The new company’s portfolio will comprise newly developed products, as well as current and derivative products from Sagem and Elbit Systems, Sagem said.
The company will offer a wide range of products for the tactical UAV market.
While Sagem has been a leading provider of tactical UAVs in the European market, Haifa (Israel)-based Elbit Systems has been producing and marketing unmanned aircraft for the global customers.
