MOSCOW (BNS): Russian arms exporter Rosoboronexport Corporation will bring in over 50 “top-notch pieces” of Russian naval materiel and arms during the biennial Euronaval 2010 defence and maritime exhibition which begins in Paris on Monday.
While the main focus would be on naval projects, technology, equipment and armaments, the defence major will also showcase various navigation, command and control, and communications systems designed for maritime defence and security purposes.
The highlighted products by Rosoboronexport will include various ships like the Tigr-class corvette, the Gepard-3.9-class frigate, Tornado-class littoral combat ships as well as a number of patrol boats.
Promotional materials, to be displayed at the show, will cover Club-M, Bastion, and Bal-E missile systems, the company said. Besides, various radars designed for providing security and defending offshore and coastal military and economic facilities will also be shown.
In the submarines segment, the company will exhibit the Project 636 Kilo-class low-noise submarine, armed with the Club-S missile system and the Amur-class fourth-generation diesel-electric submarines, capable of multiple missile launches against various targets.
The Le Bourget exhibition centre will also display Russian naval aviation, in particular shipborne rotary-wing aircraft, including the Ka-27PS search-and-rescue (SAR) helicopter and the Ka-28 anti-submarine warfare (ASW) helicopter, Rosoboronexport said.
The weapons and armaments on display will include various naval guns, torpedoes and missiles.
With such an wide array of products on display, the company hopes to clinch new deals during the event. “We are certain that our participation in the exhibition will be extremely productive and will allow us to secure new contracts in the future.
"Moreover so that Rosoboronexport stands a good chance of expanding its sales geography to include a number of countries in Latin America, the Middle East, and Southeast Asia," Ivan Goncharenko, Rosoboronexport Deputy Director General and head of the delegation at Euronaval 2010, said.
