MOSCOW (BNS): Russian cargo spaceship Progress M-07M has successfully docked with the International Space Station.
The freighter, carrying over 2.5 tons of supplies, including oxygen, food, water and other scientific and medical equipment, docked with the ISS at 15:58 Moscow time (11.58 GMT) on Sunday.
The vehicle is now attached to the Zvezda module on the Russian segment of the orbital station, Roscosmos said.
Russia had launched the spacecraft on board its Soyuz carrier rocket on September 10.
Meanwhile, the spacecraft will raise the ISS’s orbit twice for the convenient docking and landing of upcoming space flight missions.
The first reboost operation is slated for September 15, in order to prepare the station for docking with Soyuz YMA-01M on October 10 and to maintain favourable conditions for Soyuz TMA-18 landing on September 24, the Russian space agency said.
The other reboost is scheduled on October 15. This time the cargo spaceship (Progress M-07M) will raise the orbit of the station to support further rendezvous and docking of Progress M-08M on October 30 and Discovery shuttle on November 3, it said.
