Russian rocket places Inmarsat satellite into orbit

MOSCOW (BNS): British satellite Inmarsat 4F3 was launched from the Baikonur cosmodrome on a Russian Proton-M booster on Tuesday.

"Proton-M with the Briz-M upper stage and Inmarsat 4F3 satellite was launched from Baikonur at 02:43 Moscow time," Russian news agency Itar-Tass quoted the secretary of the Khrunichev state research and production space centre Alexander Bobrenev.

Initially the satellite was to be launched on August 14, but because of a defect detected in the Briz-M upper stage of Proton-M, it was put off.
