MOSCOW (BNS): Russia will strengthen its naval power by adding at least Graney class nuclear-powered attack submarines by next decade, Russian media reports.

"We are expecting to receive at least eight attack submarines of this [Graney] class by 2020," RIA Novosti quoted Russian Navy chief Adm, Vladimir Vysotsky as saying.

By August 2011, the first Graney class submarine ‘Severodvinsk’, will start sea trial in White Sea and will be commissioned in Russian Navy.

The Sevmash Shipyard of Russia is currently constructing the second vessel ‘Kazan’ and will start the construction of the third Graney class submarine by 2011, he added.
