Russian Army to receive multiple rocket launching systems

The Grad System.

MOSCOW (BNS): Russian Army is all set to strengthen its forces by adding new Tornado-G multiple rocket launching systems (MRLS) to its fleet, a media report said.

“This will further increase the Army's firepower and standoff capability for effective engagement,” RIA Novosti quoted Army spokesman Lt. Col. Sergei Vlasov as saying on Monday.

The new Tornado will replace the existing Grad systems of the Russian fleet.

Tornados are superior to Grads in their effectiveness, automated control, aiming and satellite navigation systems, he added.

Since 1964, the Grad truck-mounted system featuring 122-mm rockets with a range of 30-40 km had served the Russian Ground Forces.
