Russian Air Force to get upgraded Tupolev aircrafts

MOSCOW (BNS): OAO Tupolev, Russian leading manufacturers in jets will advance its family of aircrafts to add more life to Russian Air Force long range aviation, a media report said.

"Our task today is to modernise the carriers of three multimode families - Tupolev-22MZ, Tupolev-160 and Tupolev-95MS," Itar-Tass quoted the President of the corporation Alexander Bobryshev as saying.

"The objective is even more toughly formulated - to organize and steer the modernization of these machines, "This activity will go along with the unification of component parts ," he added.

The Tupolev Tu-95MS is a long-range intercontinental strategic bomber with four-engine turboprop power and missile platform to carry long range cruise missiles. Installation of advanced softwares and missile weaponry system will be done on it.

The Tupolev Tu-160 is a supersonic, variable-geometry heavy bomber and Tupolev-22MZ is a frontline bomber which will be operated by a specialized regiment of Russian Air Force.

Medium range drone complex will also be constructed by the manufacturers.
