MOSCOW (BNS): Russia will test the Bulava submarine-launched ballistic missile for the 14th time on October 29.

The 14th test of Russia's troubled Bulava submarine-launched ballistic missile is scheduled for October 29, a source in the test flight commission was quoted as saying by Ria Novosti.

This will be the second test trial of the missile system in a month.

The last test of the long-range missile took place on October 7 when the weapon, launched from the Dmitry Donskoy nuclear submarine in the White Sea, successfully hit its target on the Kura test range in Russia's Far East Kamchatka region.

Russia is developing the Bulava missile to equip its military with advanced defence capabilities and making it resistant to missile-defence systems.

The three-stage solid-propellant ballistic missile, with a range of over 8,000 kilometers, carries up to 10 multiple independently targetable reentry vehicle (MIRV) warheads.

It is being developed for deployment on Russia’s new Borey class nuclear-powered submarines.
