MOSCOW (BNS): Russia will soon participate in a tender to provide Turkey S-300 and S-400 surface-to-air-missile systems, Rosoboronexport said on Wednesday.
According to a news report by the RIA Novosti, Russian arms exporter, Rosoboronexport will participate in a defence tender alongwith its Western counterparts for the supply SAM systems.
"Turkey has a demand for S-300 and S-400 missile systems and Russia has also expressed its wilingness to participate in the tender," the news report quoted Anatoly Isaikin, CEO of Rosoboronexport, as saying.
The S-300 is a series of Russian long range surface-to-air missile systems, all based on the initial S-300P version. The S-300 is regarded as one of the most potent anti-aircraft missile systems.
The S-400 is a new generation air defence system. It is an upgrade of the S-300 family. The S-400 is intended to intercept and destroy airborne targets at a distance of up to 400 km.
