MOSCOW (BNS): The Russian Air Force has ordered seven Antonov-140 turboprop military cargo aircraft from Ukrainian aircraft engine manufacturer Motor Sich, a media report said.
“The Russian Air Force will purchase planes built to military specifications,” airforce-technology.com quoted Motor Sich chairman Viacheslav Boguslav as saying.
The An-140 is a twin-engine airplane, which has only been used as a passenger aircraft for civilian purposes, primarily by airlines in Ukraine, Libya and Iran.
Both Russia and Ukraine have not disclosed the value of the contract, however, the list price of an An-140 is estimated to be around $9m, according to Ukrainian news reports.
