MOSCOW (BNS): Russia has announced its willingness to export Iskander tactical missile complexes to Saudi Arabia, a news report said.
Igor Sevastyanov, a Deputy Director General of Russia's state weaponry trading corporation Rosoboronexport, said Russia will supply the equipment if Saudi Arabia wants to buy it.
"For the process to begin, however, a number of procedures should be fulfilled as the first step. Also, the customer should have earnest willingness," a Tass news agency report quoted him as saying.
According to the report, a Saudi delegation visited the Army 2015 defence forum last month in the Moscow region to hold talks on purchasing the complexes.
During the International Naval Show in St Petersburg, a presentation of coastal guard ships and patrol vessels was also done for the Saudi Arabian delegation, it said.
Earlier officials at the Machine-Building Design Bureau, manufacturer of the Iskander missile, have said that the systems will not be exported, however, now they have been put on a list of products allowed to be sold abroad.
Rosoboronexport has also stated that successful implementation of the state defence order has created conditions for advancing the missile systems to the global market.
Russia is also reportedly holding talks to supply the Iskander-M missile systems to Armenia.
