Russia to equip 1st Borey class sub with Bulava missile

The Russian Borey class submarine to be equipped with Bulava missile.

MOSCOW (BNS): Russia is all set to equip the first Borey class submarine with Bulava missile, a media report said.

A set of Bulava ballistic missiles have already been tested at a Russian missile production plant in southern Siberia.

"A batch of missiles sufficient to finish the tests and equip one submarine has been produced already. Larger production would cause the missiles to stock up," RIA Novosti quoted Russian Deputy Prime Minister Sergei Ivanov as saying.

The Bulava (SS-NX-30) submarine-launched ballistic missile carries up to 10 MIRV warheads and has a range of over 8,000 kilometers (5,000 miles), it said.

Russia is planning to conduct at least four Bulava test launches this year from the Yury Dolgoruky.
