MOSCOW (BNS): Russian Prime Minister has announced to double the production of ballistic missile systems from 2013, a media report said.
"The Armed Forces will receive new strategic and tactical missile systems, such as RS-24 Yars, Bulava and Iskander M. Starting from 2013, the production of [ballistic] missile systems must be doubled," RIA Novosti quoted Russia Prime Minister Vladimir Putin as saying on Monday.
"Russia will invest 77 billion rubles ($2.6 bln) in the production of ballistic missiles in line with a state programme on the modernisation of the defence industry until 2020," he added at a meeting with defence industry officials in the southern Siberian republic of Udmurtia.
For the next three years, Russia will give $ 500 million to the missile manufacturers, including a missile production plant in Votkinsk for the production and development of the missile, the report said.
