NIZHNY NOVGOROD (BNS): Russia's Kazan aircraft will build a new strategic bomber for the nation, a Russian news agency reported on Tuesday.

"The plant will continue upgrading Tu-160 and Tu-22 long-range bombers and will then start assembling a new-generation strategic bomber," RIA Novosti quoted Prime Minister Vladimir Putin as saying.

Details on the next-generation bomber project launch were not unveiled in media.

Russia is also manufacturing a helicopter plant with the Kazan-based enterprise. Under the new project, the company will soon start the production of Mi-38 helicopter.

The Kazan aircraft will continue the development of Ansat and Aktai helicopters, the report said.
