MOSCOW (BNS): Russia has signed over a $600 million contract with Myanmar under which it will supply 20 MiG-29 fighter aircraft and other weapons to that country, Russian news agency Intefax reported on Wednesday.
“The basis of this package is a contract for supply to Myanmar 20 MiG-29SMT,” the agency said quoting a military-diplomatic source here.
The deal would also include supply of helicopters and other military products to the Southeast Asian nation, the source said.
The military-ruled Myanmar had bought 12 MiG-29 fighters from Russia in 2001.
The Russian bid to supply the MiG-29 Fulcrum-D carrier-based fighter aircraft beat China's offer to sell its latest J-10 and FC-1 fighters, a Myanmanrese news daily said.
