Russia orders modern armament for airborne troops

MOSCOW (BNS): Russia is planning to equip its airborne troops with more than 2000 item of modern equipment, Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu said on Tuesday.

"This year, there are plans to supply over 2,000 items of armaments and modern hardware to the Airborne Troops," Sergey Shoigu was quoted as saying by the Russian news agenecy, TASS.

He said the Airborne Troops already comprise three air assault brigades and five reconnaissance battalions. "This year, the formation of another three reconnaissance battalions and six tank companies will be completed," Shoigu added, according to the TASS news report.
