MOSCOW (BNS): Russia’s major aircraft company Sukhoi is carrying out test flights of its first series-produced Su-35S Flanker-E multirole fighter.
The aircraft spent one and a half hours in the air testing propulsion and control systems after it took off from the Komsomolsk-on-Amur airfield in Russia's Far East, Sukhoi said on Tuesday.
According to the company, Su-35 touted as "4++ generation using fifth-generation technology," will be transferred to the Russian Defence Ministry after completion of the tests.
The Su-35 Flanker-E superiority can effectively engage several air targets simultaneously using both guided and unguided missiles and weapon systems. The fighter is powered by two 117S engines.
