MOSCOW (BNS): Russia and Germany plans to meet on Thursday in Moscow for discussions on defence cooperation and also on issues concerning European missile shield, the Russian Defence Ministry said.

According to a news report in RIA Novosti, German Defence Minister Thomas De Maiziere along with his military delegation arrives in Moscow for an official visit with Russian Defense Minister Anatoly Serdyukov.

"The Russian and German defence ministers will discuss on military cooperation, discuss issues of regional and international security, including the European missile shield," the ministry said in a statement, as per the news report.

Russia and NATO agreed to cooperate on the so-called European missile shield during the NATO-Russia Council summit in Lisbon in November 2010. NATO insists there should be two independent systems that exchange information, while Russia favors a joint system.
