Royal Navy bids adieu to Jetstream trainers

LONDON (BNS): The Royal Navy has replaced its vintage Jetstream trainers of 750 Naval Air Squadron with the new King Air 350 Avengers.

After serving the Royal Navy for more than thirty years the Jetstreams made their final flight at Royal Naval Air Station Culdrose on Friday 11th March 2011.

The arrival of first new King Air 350 Avengers will be in June.

The Jetstream is a fixed wing aircraft powered by twin gas turbine engines and with spare passenger capacity.

The Jetstream is used to train the all important Observers of the Fleet Air Arm who eventually become the tacticians of the Sea King Mk7 ASaC (Airborne Surveillance and Control), Merlin (anti-submarine) and Lynx (anti-surface) helicopters.
