TUCSON (BNS): US defence company Raytheon has received a $475 million contract from Saudi Arabia to provide the Paveway laser guided bombs.
The latest deal “cements Raytheon's long-standing commitment to Saudi Arabian industry and keeps production lines operational in the US,” Raytheon said.
The Paveway is a kit that transforms “dumb” bombs into precision-guided munitions. Fitted on fighter aircraft, the ‘smart weapon’ has revolutionised tactical air-to-ground warfare capabilities of an air force.
The advanced versions of the bomb use GPS/INS guidance capabilities.
