FARNBOROUGH (BNS): US Navy has awarded a $250 million indefinite delivery-indefinite quantity contract to Raytheon for the support of V-22 aircraft.
Under the five year contract, the company will provide services for V-22 avionics systems software, situational awareness software, prototype hardware and avionics acquisition support to the US Navy.
"Our avionics software capabilities have been a key aspect of the successful development and deployment of the aircraft, and we are proud of our role in providing improved mission capabilities for the war-fighter," Wayne Iurillo, vice president of Customized Engineering and Depot Support for Raytheon Technical Services Company LLC, said in a company news release.
Raytheon has been supporting the V-22 programme of US Navy from more than 27 years.
The V-22 is a joint service, multi-mission aircraft with vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) capability. It performs VTOL missions as effectively as a conventional helicopter and has long-range cruise abilities of a twin turboprop aircraft.
