'Rassvet' noisiest module in ISS, says station Commander

Mini Research Module MRM1 Rassvet

MOSCOW (BNS): All is not so quiet in the International Space Station with the newly installed Russian Mini Research Module (MRM-1), also called Rassvet (Dawn), creating a lot of noise, according to ISS commander Alexander Skvortsov.

“The module is the noisiest unit of the space station,” Skvortsov said answering a question sent through the ISS Mail Box placed at the Memorial Space Museum for any visitor to send a letter to astronauts.

"There is noise in the station, din of the working equipment. You get used to it easily… But each module has its level of noise, ad Rassvet is the noisiest one...", RIA Novosti quoting the commander said.

The module hosts a variety of research experiments enhancing the space station's research capabilities and enabling new investigations to be performed. It also provides an additional docking port for Russian Soyuz and Progress vehicles at the space station.

The laboratory was delivered to the ISS by NASA’s space shuttle Atlantis on the STS-132 mission on May 14, this year.
