BANGALORE (BNS): Raksha Rajya Mantri Shri Jitendra Singh visited the BrahMos pavilion, as the Aero India 2013 took a spectacular grand take off on the first day at the Yelahanka Air Force Station, Bangalore.
During his visit to the BrahMos pavilion Mr. Jitendra Singh was welcomed by Dr. AS Pillai, CEO and MD BrahMos Aerospace. He was briefed by Dr. AS Pillai about the BRAHMOS Land Mobile Complex, Naval Fleet Platform, BRAHMOS air-version and BRAHMOS II – the advanced hypersonic version of the cruise missile system.
BrahMos is exhibiting various launch platforms for the universal missile system in the ninth edition of the premier Asian airshow. These include the air-launched version, naval version and land attack version of BRAHMOS. Successful launches of the missile from different platforms are also being showcased in a video display.
The mobile land-based configuration of BRAHMOS has achieved several advancements over the years in the form of Block I, Block II and Block III variants with each having its own distinct potentiality to hit and destroy enemy target.
The naval version of BRAHMOS, which has recently witnessed two successive successful test firings from Indian Navy warships, is also being showcased at the mega aerospace event. BRAHMOS is now being developed for launch from submarines.
Another major futuristic technological advancement the company is highlighting during the aero-show is BRAHMOS II – the advanced hypersonic version of BRAHMOS.
BRAHMOS supersonic cruise missile is a precision strike weapon already inducted by the Indian Army and Navy. It can be launched from submarines, ships, aircraft and land.
The supersonic cruise missile has a flight range of 290 km with a speed of 2.8 Mach.
