Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh releases 12th edition of Brahmand World Defence Update

BENGALURU (BNS): Shri Rajnath Singh, Hon’ble Defence Minister of India on 13th February 2023 released the 12th edition of global military compendium ‘Brahmand World Defence Update 2023’ at BrahMos Aerospace pavilion during the inaugural day of Aero India 2023 in Bengaluru, Karnataka.

The yearbook was released in the presence of Shri Atul Dinkar Rane, OS & DG (BrahMos), DRDO and CEO & MD of BrahMos Aerospace, Dr. Sanjeev Kumar Joshi, Dy CEO of BrahMos Aerospace and other senior BrahMos officials.

General Anil Chauhan, PVSM, UYSM, AVSM, SM, VSM, Chief of Defence Staff, has penned the ‘Foreword’ for the yearbook.

In its latest edition, the yearbook – an initiative of India-Russia JV entity BrahMos Aerospace – has made an exclusive inclusion of ‘Electronic Warfare (EW) Systems’ of six powerful nations, namely China, India, Israel, Russia, UK and the USA. Brahmand World Defence Update covers about 113 countries worldwide including detailed strategic analysis of 33 major ones.

Electronic Warfare plays significant roles for modern militaries by providing superior situational awareness. With today’s Armed Forces operating in a dense and challenging electromagnetic environment, several countries are investing in enhanced electronic warfare capabilities. Due to rising aerial threats in the regional theatre and growing demand to dominate the electromagnetic spectrum, countries are radically improving their electronic warfare capabilities in order to locate, blind and deceive the enemy by targetting their communications, navigation and guidance systems. The new chapter focuses on some of the important Electronic Countermeasures, Electronic Counter-Countermeasures, Electronic Warfare Support measures, various platforms, etc of these countries using publicly available information.

‘Brahmand World Defence Update 2023’ has listed in detail about such advanced systems possessed by countries with strong military in the world.

Besides, it has provided incisive, comprehensive and up-to-date facts, figures and data on the armed forces of 113 countries worldwide with the objective to give a comprehensive assessment of the present-day global military order.

The yearbook has covered each country’s overall military capability by listing its existing weapons' inventory, ongoing/ future arms procurement plans and annual defence spending besides detailing important political & defence personnel along with the country’s core conflict areas.

It has also provided detailed strategic information on 33 leading countries selected from each continent/region with key focus on their geopolitical importance, strategic relations, threat perception, defence capabilities and defence budget trends.
