QUEENSLANDAY (BNS): The Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) has received the third KC-30A Multi Role Tanker Transport (MRTT) aircraft, at the Base Amberley, Queenslanday on Tuesday.
"This is another important step forward in this project. This aircraft will join the other two currently being operated by Number 33 Squadron at RAAF Base Amberley," Minister for Defence Materiel Jason Clare said.
The third aircraft will be converted from a commercial A330 airliner to a state-of-the-art military tanker by Qantas Defence Services at Brisbane Airport, he added.
According to Australian MoD, Royal Australian Air Force will receive total five KC-30As from Airbus military. The first two aircraft has been already delivered in June this year.
All five A330 MRTTs were acquired under AIR 5402 to provide the Australian Defence Force (ADF) with what is the world's only certified and flying new generation tanker/transport aircraft.
