Russian Progress M-08M cargo spacecraft

MOSCOW (BNS): Russian Progress M-08M cargo spacecraft will be sunk in the southern Pacific Ocean later on Monday, a media report said.

The space carrier was undocked from the Pirs module of the International Space Station (ISS) on Monday where it has been since October last year.

Ria Novosti quoting a Russian Mission Control spokesman said, "An order for the undocking was given at 3:40 Moscow time (0:40 GMT)."

He said, Progress M-08M will not be used for scientific experiments and will be sunk at the "spaceship cemetery" at 9:07 Moscow time (6:07 GMT).

In addition to their main mission as cargo spacecraft, Progress-family freighters are used to adjust the space station’s orbit and to conduct scientific experiments.
