Pratt & Whitney engines to power Egyptian Air Force’s F-16 fighters

EAST HARTFORD (BNS): US aircraft engine manufacturer Pratt & Whitney has won a contract worth $46 million to provide the F100-PW-229 engines for Egyptian Air Force’s new fleet of 20 F-16 fighters.

The contract covers engines to support the initial aircraft production for the Egyptian Air Force’s F-16 Block 52 aircraft purchase.

Under the contract, Pratt & Whitney will provide the advanced F100-PW-229 Enhanced Engine Package (EEP) – the latest addition to the family of F100 engines produced by it.

The delivery of the engines will begin in 2011, the company said.
