ROME (BNS): Pakistan has placed order for more number of AW139 intermediate twin engine helicopters from Italy's Leonardo-Finmeccanica group.
The country had in May last year ordered an undisclosed number of AW139s to carry out search & rescue and emergency medical service duties across the nation.
The new aircraft would be used to perform utility and transport operations across the nation, Leonardo said on February 20, adding that deliveries of the helicopters are expected to start in mid-2017.
A total of 11 AW139s are already in service in Pakistan, with 5 aircraft operated for Government relief and transportation duties.
