ISLAMABAD (PTI): The Pakistan Army is fully prepared to meet challenges faced by the country externally and internally, army chief Gen Ashfaq Parvez Kayani has said.
Kayani made the remarks while addressing a formation commanders' conference that he chaired at the General Headquarters in Rawalpindi.
The conference is being attended by Corps commanders, Principal Staff Officers and formation commanders.
He congratulated the formations on successful conclusion of the "Year of Training" and series of "Azm-e-Nau" exercises.
He lauded the conduct of operations against militants in Swat and the tribal areas and highlighted the follow-up role of the army in the social development of militancy-affected areas.
The participants of the conference were given comprehensive briefings on the security environment and operational and training matters.
The briefings were followed by an open discussion.
