Pak military top brass vows to eliminate terrorists


ISLAMABAD (PTI): Pakistan's top military commanders has vowed to eliminate militants from the country and not allow them to regroup.

The Army met for the 176th Corps Commanders' Conference at General Headquarters on Wednesday which was chaired by Army Chief General Raheel Sharif.

"Participants expressed resolve to continue operations till elimination of terrorists and vowed that terrorists will not be allowed to regroup and return to these areas neither will they be allowed any space across the country," army said in a statement.

The conference, which is part of routine monthly meetings, was briefed about the overall security situation in the country.

The army was also briefed about the military operations in the tribal region against Taliban.

General Sharif expressed complete satisfaction over progress made in Operations and gains achieved so far, the statement said.

He also directed officers that no stone be left unturned to assist displaced persons during their stay outside and in their early return to their homes.

More than one million people have been temporarily dislocated due to operation Zarb-e-Azb in North Waziristan which was launched in June and Operation Khyber in Khyber tribal region launched in October.

So far more than 1,200 militants and over 100 soldiers have been killed in these operations.
