ISLAMABAD (BNS): The Pakistan Navy is negotiating with China and France to buy seven conventional submarines to counter "any challenge from the rapidly expanding Indian Navy," according to a media report.
The Pak Navy intends to acquire four of China's Yuan and Song class submarines and three of France's Marlin class diesel subs, the Dawn newspaper reported.
A high-level naval delegation is on a visit to France to carry out the negotiations in this regard, it said.
Besides, plans are afoot to get three U-214 submarines from Germany for which discussions are going on for the last three years, the newspaper said.
France has provided three Agosta 90-B and two Agosta 70 class diesel attack submarines along with four Daphne class diesel-electric patrol submarines to the Pakistan Navy.
