PM briefed on Chandrayaan

NEW DELHI (BNS): Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh was briefed on the successful launch of Chandrayaan-1, India’s first unmanned scientific mission to Moon by the Indian Space Research Organisation chairman Dr G Madhavan Nair.

He was also briefed about the launch sequence and subsequent maneuvering of the spacecraft to reach the final lunar orbit. The health of the spacecraft is good and all operations so far have been implemented as planned.

The ISRO chairman presented models of Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV) C-11 and Chandrayaan-1 to the Prime Minister. He was also shown the Image of Earth captured by Terrain Mapper Camera (TMC) from an altitude of 70,000 Km.

During the meeting, the Prime Minister expressed happiness on achieving a significant milestone in Indian Space Program and congratulated Chairman, ISRO and entire team for the successful mission.
