NEW DELHI (BNS): The South China Sea fleet of the PLA Navy has commissioned a new frigate called Qujing, hull number 508, a news report said.

The commissioning ceremony was recently held at a naval port in Sanya, a port city in China's island Hainan province. The Type 056A frigate Qujing has a displacement of over 1,300 tons.

The indigenously developed frigate with good stealth performance is capable of attacking aircraft, surface ships and submarines independently or in coordination with other naval forces, a MoD report said.
