Oshkosh M-ATV MRAP All Terrain Vehicle.
OSHKOSH (BNS): Oshkosh Defense, a division of Oshkosh Corporation, will deliver 800 protection kits for the MRAP All-Terrain Vehicle (M-ATV) following an order from the US Army TACOM Life Cycle Management Command (LCMC).
The order has a ceiling price of $80 million.
"These protection kits are part of our ongoing work with the military to deliver exceptional M-ATV survivability against evolving threats on the modern battlefield," Charlie Szews, Oshkosh Corporation president and chief executive officer, was quoted as saying in the company news release.
The M-ATV is produced with factory-installed armour and can also accept add-on armour and protection kits. The vehicle's modular design allows bolt-on armour to be installed or repaired in the field, the release added.
Using the Oshkosh TAK-4 independent suspension system, the M-ATV can incorporate add-on protection kits while maintaining its full payload capacity of 4,000 pounds and a 70 percent off-road profile capability.
Oshkosh produces the M-ATV base, as well as tactical ambulance and Special Forces Vehicle (SFV) variants, for the US military.
Deliveries are scheduled to be completed in summer 2011.
