MARIETTA, GEORGIA (BNS): Sultanate of Oman has accepted the first C-130J Super Hercules aircraft from Lockheed Martin in a ceremony here, the company announced on Wednesday.
This is the first of three C-130Js on order for Oman and is scheduled for delivery later this year.
The new C-130J will be used to support internal country operations where its ability to operate out of remote austere airstrips will be invaluable. Oman currently operates a fleet of three C-130Hs purchased in the early 1980s.
The C-130J Super Hercules is an advanced tactical airlifter capable of combat delivery, air-to-air refuelling, special operations, disaster relief and humanitarian missions.
