Norway to receive four F-35 aircraft by 2018

WASHINGTON (BNS): Norway will receive four F-35 Joint Strike Fighter aircraft by 2018, confirms Norwegian defence ministry.

Test flights for the aircraft in F-35 programme are schedule for 2011.

The Norwegian defence ministry has proposed an initial buy of four Lockheed Martin F-35s for $883 million in April 2011.

So far Norwegian industry has signed industrial contracts related to the F-35 programme for about 2.2 billion Norwegian kroner. Lockheed Martin's industrial plan for Norway, combined with that of the engine supplier, provides opportunities for Norwegian industry for about 35 billion.

Overall, the company will produce approx. 3.200 F-35 aircraft for the nine partner countries, this volume could be increased by any flysalg to third countries.
