HERNDON (BNS): Northrop Grumman has received a contract from Defence Logistics Agency (DLA) to provide spare assets for the B-2 Spirit stealth bomber of the US Air Force.
The contract, worth $76 million, has a performance period of eight years, Northrop, which is the manufacturer of the stealth bomber, said.
The USAF's B-2 Spirit is the flagship of US's long-range strike arsenal and one of the most survivable aircraft in the world.
The heavy bomber with low observable stealth technology is designed to penetrate sophisticated anti-aircraft defences and deploy both conventional and nuclear weapons.
"Our customer will benefit greatly from the reestablishment of a production capability in support of immediate spares replenishment," said Jim Gerdes, B-2 Tailpipe programme manager for Northrop Grumman Technical Services.
