New Zealand's Chief of Defence Force visits India

NEW DELHI (PTI): New Zealand's Chief of Defence Force Lieutenant General Jerry Mateparae Thursday began his four-day India visit in a bid to enhance the defence relationship between the two countries.

During the visit, Mateparae met Chairman, Chief of Staff’s Committee and Army Chief General Deepak Kapoor and discussed the possibility of expanding cooperation between the two countries in defence and security.

Mateparae is also expected to meet Navy Chief Admiral Nirmal Verma and other senior military leaders during his stay in the country till November 8.

Mateparae is the commander and head of New Zealand's Defence Forces and also acts as the primary military adviser to the country's Defence Minister.
