DEHRADUN (PTI): A total of 536 Gentleman Cadets (GCs), including 18 from friendly nations, will pass out from the prestigious Indian Military Academy (IMA) here on Saturday.
Nepalese army chief General Chhatra Man Singh Gurung will be the reviewing officer of the passing out parade, to be held on the drill square in front of historic Chetwode building, IMA commandant Lt Gen R S Sujlana said.
While 504 GCs will become part of the Indian Army, 14 others will join paramilitary force Assam Rifles, he said, adding a maximum of 148 GCs will join the infantry division of the army.
Of the total 18 GCs from friendly nations, six are from Bhutan, four from Sri Lanka, two each from Nepal, Kazakhstan and Maldives and one each from Tajikistan and Mauritius, Sujlana said.
Ravi Shukla, son of a farmer in Lakhimpur district of Uttar Pradesh has been selected for the prestigious 'sword of Honour' award for best all round performance. Shukla will also be awarded with gold medal for standing first in the order of merit from the regular course, he said.
