Nepal to get military support from China

KATHMANDU (BNS): China has pledged to give financial support to Nepal, including military assistance worth Rs 100 million, a move that may raise concerns in India.

According to the Kathmandu Post, the miliatry aid will be used for training the Nepalese Army and also to equip them with "non-lethal" security armament. In addition, another Rs 20 million will be given to rebuild its Consulate General Office in Lhasa, in Tibet. China has also boost up its annual assistance to Nepal by Rs 1600 million.

The statement was made during the bilateral talks held by the Chinese delegation led by the executive deputy chairperson of Tibetan Autonomous Region (TAR) Hao Peng with Nepalese authorities on Wednesday.

China will also be providing Rs 30.6 million as food aid annually from the present year.
