NEW DELHI (PTI): Navy chief Admiral Nirmal Verma will join his counterparts from over 100 countries at an international meet beginning in the US to discuss effective use of sea power to further national interests on Tuesday.
During the three-day International Sea Power Symposium at the US Naval War College in Newport, Verma will be joined by his Pakistani counterpart Admiral Noman Bashir too, Navy sources said here.
Admiral Verma will be there till October 9, when he would also meet Navy chiefs from other countries to discuss issues of mutual interest, the sources said.
The biennial event is a global platform where issues relating to military aspects of maritime activities including use of Navy as an instrument of diplomacy would be discussed.
The recent trends in naval warfare, as also the fight against piracy in the high seas, would form part of the symposiums' points for discussion, sources added.
