Indian Air Force MiG aircraft
CHANDIGARH (PTI): Indian Air Force (IAF) personnel, aerospace researchers and academicians on Thursday discussed the structural defects in MiG series aircraft at a seminar here.
The interaction between operators of MiG series aircraft in IAF with various repair and overhaul agencies, premier research establishments and industry in the country took place on the opening-day of the two-day national seminar on 'Structural Defects on MIG series Aircraft, Trends and Remedial Measures', an official release said.
Air Marshal Ramesh Rai, Air Officer Commanding in Chief, Training Command IAF, inaugurated the seminar, it said.
A journal to commemorate the golden jubilee of Air Force Station High grounds, Chandigarh was also released.
It was also discussed that the MiG series aircraft, in particular, have always required close monitoring of stresses and corrosion.
Regular remedial measures have been administered over the years by different agencies.
New technologies that have evolved recently in strengthening and rejuvenation of structures will also be discussed in the seminar, the release said.
The seminar is aimed at providing a common platform to the operators and the maintenance crew to share their experiences within their respective areas of specialisation and come out with solutions.
Dr B P C Rao, Indira Gandhi Centre for Atomic Research (IGCAR) Kalpakam, Dr Vijayaraju, Scientist G, Aeronautical Development Agency (ADA) Bangalore, R D Mone, Chief Manager (Design) Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (HAL) were among those who presented talks.
