MOFFETT FIELD (BNS): NASA has selected five companies to award a contract for Modular Space Vehicles (MSV) under the Department of Defence Operationally Responsive Space (ORS) office.
NASA has selected ATK Space Systems, Miltec Corporation, Northrop Grumman Systems, PnP Innovations Inc and Sierra Nevada Corporation for five year indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity (IDIQ) contract.
The cost-plus fixed-fee multi-award contract will help to develop multi-mission modular space vehicles.
In partnership with the DOD, NASA will play a role in planning, acquisition and operations of ORS efforts.
Under the contract, the companies will be awarded the innovation, standards and architecture task order. Northrop Grumman Systems will be awarded the multi-mission modular bus development task order and Sierra Nevada will be awarded the multi-mission modular payload development task order.
In partnership with the Department of Defence, NASA will help to facilitate planning, acquisition and operations for the ORS.
Earlier in February, NASA has released a Request for Proposals to industry, to solicit two individual requirements, including the Modular Space Vehicles contract and a Rapid Response Space Works (RRSW) contract, which was awarded earlier this year.
Both contracts share a maximum value of $500 million.
