Mega Indo-Russia tri-services exercise concludes

NEW DELHI (PTI): The first mega war game involving armies, navies and air forces of India and Russia ended on Sunday after 10 days of intense drills with a focus on anti-terror cooperation.

In the tactical exercise that began on October 19 at Vladivostok in Russia, the two countries particularly focused on combating terrorism.

The exercise focused on the conduct of counter insurgency operations under United Nations mandate in a joint service environment, the defence ministry said in a statement.

The exercise Indra also focused on achieving coordination between forces of the two countries in a tri-services integrated theatre command scenario.

It was for the first time India participated in a tri-services exercise with a foreign country with such a large scale participation by the Navy, Army and Air Force, a senior Army official said.

After intense and exacting military training, the joint exercise concluded with a closing ceremony, wherein both the contingents showcased their immense talents with unique traditional touches, the ministry said.
